Recording Studio in a Boat

Yesterday morning we heard Thomas Dolby's keynote at Design West (the tech conference we're at in San Jose this week). He talked about the history of his interest in electronic music, he showed his process for recording (and demonstrated live, several times…a mini concert!) and showed tons of photos, including these shots of his home recording studio (on the coast of England). It's an old 1930s lifeboat he found on ebay and it's powered by both solar and wind.

Inside:
Dolby2

Here's an article I found with more info about the lifeboat recording studio.

For those of you who don't think you know who Thomas Dolby is, here's a link to his wikipedia page to jog your memory. (Also, he's been the Musical Director of The TED Conference since 2001.)

Anyway, very cool.
