These are very well-made boats (as are the American Tugs, made in nearby LaConner, Washington — our runner up) and you couldn't go wrong with either boat. It was great to see the process, and we're very happy with our choice.

I didn't show you these earlier, because, well, it was a surprise (and we hadn't decided yet)!

Early on Tuesday morning we'll be heading north to close on the sale of our boat, and then starting right in with a few days of on-the-water training. We want to learn as much as we can (while there's someone right there to answer questions) before we strike out on our own (where we have to look things up on the internet). 🙂

After the 29th, we'll be having a few upgrades done to the boat, and once those are finished we'll probably explore the San Juans a little bit (if the weather's still decent) before bringing Airship back to Portland for some Columbia River time.

Morning at Cap Sante Marina, Anacortes:

Capsante

I've already purchased a couple of the things from my Airship Decor post yesterday and I'm excited to see how they look on the boat. (I just want to be ON the boat already!) I'll wait to decide what else we want/need until after we've actually lived on the thing for a little bit. The boat is coming to us already outfitted with so many things we won't need to buy (fantastic!) but we know we're going to want to personalize the look and feel with our own bedding, throw pillows, towels, etc.

That pillow with the woodblock print of the giant octopus attacking the boat? Yeah. I got two of those.

Airstream Style: I love when this happens http://www.riveted-blog.com/2013/04/airstream-style-i-love-when-this-happens/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=airstream-style-i-love-when-this-happens http://www.riveted-blog.com/2013/04/airstream-style-i-love-when-this-happens/#comments Fri, 26 Apr 2013 15:47:44 +0000 http://www.riveted-blog.com/airstream-style-i-love-when-this-happens Continue ReadingAirstream Style: I love when this happens]]> Okay so I'm sure by now you all know I take great care in designing the environment in our Airstream. I love choosing textiles and fabrics and surfaces that work together but aren't cookie-cutter already matched for me. I don't pay much attention to what other people do with regard to design because I like to make it my own. (Organizational and functional ideas though — totally fair game!)

About a year ago I found this quilt design on Etsy and really dug the pattern and the bright colors. I bookmarked it and kept it in mind. At some point I revisted this quilt and saw that there were now pillow covers in that same design. Score! Wait, do I want to change my pillows? I don't know yet. Bookmark No. 2.

About a month ago I decided I was ready for a change and started looking for something to go WITH those pillows. I found these, and put the two designs together in my head and I liked the mix of geometry and color of the tangerine laddern pattern combined with the slightly retro pattern of the leaf design. I mapped out the sizes I wanted and placed my order, and it worked as I'd hoped. The bit of blue in the leaf pillow, the bit of blue in the Nelson clock, the bit of blue in our vintage Franciscan Starburst dishes.

Our dishes have no orange, so when I set the table (I know, this is totally design/decor minutae…feel free to stop reading here if you're starting to nod off) I always feel like they are a little "not of this theme" … which is fine. I tend not to like themes anyway. I figured the leaf pillows with the blue right here at the dinette would join it all together and it did.

BUT THEN!! A week or so ago while browsing on Etsy I found these cloth napkins. REALLY?? Could it really be the same turquoise, and the same tangerine? With a similar pattern motif as the atomic pattern in our dishes?? The turqoise looked a little warm in the photo online….

I got them in the mail yesterday and yes. Yes it is. All of that. It's perfect. (It's more perfect in person than it is in this photo):

Wonder when I'll get tired of it and want to change things up again.
