Airstream Style: Deluxe vs. Budget (Black, White, Yellow)

I've been eyeing this Marimekko duvet cover (left) and thinking that it would be fun to see if I could pair it with some yellow and white striped sheets. It's on my "want" list, but it's a bit more expensive than the comforter I've got in the Airstream now.

Then, when I was an Ikea last week picking up a gift, I saw this duvet cover (right) that looked similar to the Marimekko and I thought I'd do a little online challenge for myself. (Click image to enlarge)

On the left:

Marimekko Duvet Cover and Two Standard Shams (Crate & Barrel – $170)
White Citron Sheets (West Elm – queen set $80)
Crewel Embroidered Zigzag Pillow (Urban Outfitters – $40)
Stilt Table Lamp (Hive Modern – $200)
Total: $490

On the right:

Kajsa Sten Duvet (Ikea – $50)
Cottonova Tuxedo Striped Sheet Set (Amazon – $54)

(For the difference in the cost of the two sheet sets, I'd still go with the West Elm striped sheets for $80, because I couldn't find anything comparable in a striped sheet that fit the look I was going for.)

Anyway, fun. I may do this again with some other things I have been coveting.
