Here's my one photo: the place where we bought our prosciutto and a salami al tartufo. The woman helping us was really friendly and sweet…she was originally from Transylvania and moved to Italy 12 years ago when she married. She helped us choose which prosciutto to buy (a Toscano and sweeter Parma) and now that we've tried them both we'll head back to her the minute we run out!
We lugged quite a few bags back to the apartment, and now our fridge looks as it should:
Our Mercato haul: lettuce, basil, cucumber, asparagus, squash (with blossoms), artichokes, radishes, chicken, fresh tortellini filled with meat and cheese, prosecco, a lemon, olives, garlic, tomatoes, bufala (mozzarella made from the milk of the domestic water buffalo), pecorino al tartufo, fresh eggs, balsamic, olive oil, prosciutto Toscano, prosciutto di Parma, and a shallot.
We'll go back for some seafood after we've cooked the chicken and pasta meals and I'll try to take some photos next time. It's quite a place! (Here's a link to a good write-up about the Mercato, with some lovely photos.)
