Re: the ferry, as a matter of fact I WAS curious…see this morning’s new blog post ALL about the ferry. What an interesting history!
No Mt. Rainier view today, but it’s still beautiful and looks like the clouds may be burning off a smidge, so we’ll see what we get. Hope you’re enjoying your trip to Costa Rica! We were there for our honeymoon…in 1997!

Sure, this isn’t much to “do” but the peaceful surroundings are soothing. If you anchor a bit farther north closer to the bay entrance near the marked channel, the view of Mt Rainier at sunset is spectacular. The narrow tree lined banks visually flank the mountain with its stupendous alpenglow. Ooops, rain there, sun here in Costa Rica. As for the ferry, what a mind-blowing sight. Had no foreknowledge of it when i motored into the inner bay, came around the corner and Bam! My fertile, somewhat over-heated imagination ran rampant. Hijacked ? A disaster? A ferry terminal unknown to me? Impossible! The real story about that boat is available online if you are curious. Sort of A Puget Sound version of the movie Fitzcarraldo. Onward!
