Grand Prismatic Spring at Yellowstone – from the air

What did I tell ya, huh?

So as I said before, we walked all around this area (see the little boardwalk area…with tiny people? that's where we were on Saturday). But really the only thing you can see on the ground is the rust-colored edge and a whole bunch of steam. I'd seen photos of it (taken from the air) so after we took off this morning we went and found it so we could get the full effect. Amazing.

What a treat to get to fly over the springs….the view is just breathtaking! I LOVE this area and have never seen it in Autumn…one of these years! Are you taking your photos just using an iphone…the quality is great!

We travel back through Yellowstone almost every year during the holidays to visit family. I have almost the same shot at Mammoth Hot Springs that you do, only with a winter twist: http://www.pbase.com/tnkbuzan/image/91606454 The park is spectacular in the winter, too!

Love your blog…a happy part of each day to watch your adventures 🙂

  2. Kim: I know…this area is SO amazing. I’m sure we’ll come back in the winter. I imagine it to be so magical with the snow. I’m taking photos with my travel DSLR (a Nikon D300) and my iPhone, both.

LOVE your wintery photo…must have been the same spot!

Thanks so much for your comments…so nice to hear. We will hook up one of these days, I’m sure!
